International E-Waste Day

It's time to think seriously about E-Waste.

Our industry has a huge part to play in the future of our planet due to the sheer amount of e-waste that we generate.

The amount of global e-waste is projected to reach over 120 million tonnes by 2050, which is a drastic increase from the 62 million tonnes generated in 2022. That's almost double the amount in just under 30 years - something which we find totally unacceptable, as you should, too.

Remember, e-waste isn't just any waste. E-waste is more often than not toxic, and contains a mixture of harmful substances and precious materials. Only around 17.4% of e-waste around the planet is recorded as being properly collected, treated and recycled. The remaining 82.6% is toxic and not biodegradable, which often accumulates in the environment, soil, air, water and living things.

It's also worth noting the effects that electronic goods can have on climate change. Every device that is produced has a carbon footprint, which contributes to man-made global warming. If we're able to reduce the amount of new devices being made by correctly recycling our used electronic products, we can make a big difference in the years to come.

ECS The Greener Side are at the forefront of the campaign to reduce, recycle and reuse the e-waste produced by our industry, in particular, toner cartridges and printing consumables/components. With a simple, yet effective recycling service, you can become a major contributor towards future generations and the longevity of our planet and its' inhabitants.
